Link to telephone number in href attribute

Never seen someone using tel: in href attribute in <a> tag, also it is not available on W3Schools' document about href attribute. The use of this tag is quite impressive in mobile devices but in desktop Firefox redirected page and appeared to be page not available and in chrome, link wasn't redirecting anywhere. Here is an example of markup:

<a href='tel:+923242325226'>+92-324-2325226</a>

Clicking on above link will open the phone app in mobile (tested only in Android).

Didn't find any official browser support of this markup but we can see web is going towards native stuff and its pretty good.
